It's common for people to feel self-conscious or critical about their appearance, especially in front of a camera. However, expressing negative thoughts about your appearance can impact the dynamics of a photoshoot and the photographer's ability to capture natural and beautiful moments. As your photographer, here are some things that I want you to know:
Please don't hate how you look. When you do this, it comes across in the photos. Focus on the positive things about yourself. Your smile, your eyes, your inner beauty. I am skilled at highlighting your best features and can relate to how you feel. If anyone is going to be critical about you, let it be me. Trust me to capture your uniqueness. There is a unique beauty and personality in all of us and I will strive to bring that out in you during your session. I will guide you and direct you the entire time, and as long as you relax and give in to the moment, you will be surprised how photogenic you are.
It's ok to be who you are in your own body. I will come up with different ways to pose you that are flattering no matter what body type you have. Even if you are trying to gain weight, and think you are awkward, or trying to lose weight, and think you look like it, these are things that you think. When people look at you, that is not what they are thinking. Your loved ones will want to see you in their photo memories when they look back on this. Don't pass it up because of what you think you look like. Life is too short, and too important to worry about trivial things like this.

We perceive ourselves as imperfect. What we see as imperfections and flaws are really the BEST part of us! Draw your shoulders down, take a deep breath, and try to remember why you wanted photos in the first place.
Also, I am a damn good photographer! Let the photos speak for themselves. How about before judging how you look, give me a shot to make you look your best in a photo that you will cherish. Remember, your positive attitude can significantly enhance the outcome of a photoshoot. Just trust me, relax, and enjoy the experience.
